The NEW Voigtlander 50mm f1.0 Nokton Aspherical VM lens uses the very latest GA (ground aspherical) lens element manufacturing technique, producing the fastest and sharpest f1.0 lens in the entire Voigtlander full-frame interchangeable lens line up. At only 55mm in length, this lens is relatively compact - but don't let that fool you. Cosina have managed to keep the size down without sacrificing lens performance - a remarkable achievement.
GA lens elements are employed for their high melting points and ultra-high-refraction glass materials. These properties are very difficult to control during lens creation when compared to standard moulded aspherical lenses. When the aperture is set to wide open, you can enjoy an enhanced bokeh effect, whilst retaining sharp image quality of the in-focus areas.
The GA lens, produced in-house by Cosina Voigtlander, is used as the primary element of this new lens.
This f1.0 lens limits intrusion into the rangefinder camera's viewfinder due to its fairly compact size (55mm from filter ring to M-mount) At 484g, the lens is also very well balanced and is a pleasure to use with a rangefinder camera.
The 50mm f1.0 Nokton features a 12-blade aperture system, creating a rounder circle - giving the out-of-focus part of the image a creamy texture, with soft smooth rendering.
The lens comes with a bayonet-type metal hood and can be reverse-mounted for portability.
By utilising an all-metal helicoid unit, processed and adjusted with high precision, high-quality lubricants, the lens produces the exact torque required when focused. This makes focusing smooth, precise and a pleasure to use. A feeling which is hard to replicate in auto-focus lenses.
This lens features a VM bayonet mount, compatible with all M-Mount cameras. Not only can it be used with M-Mount rangefinder cameras, but it also has an excellent balance when attached to a mirrorless digital camera via relative adaptor.
The high-precision rangefinder interlocking mechanism enables incredibly accurate focusing - even near maximum aperture of f1.0.
This lens produces a large image circle that supports full-frame format cameras.
