The Bessa R3A/M series is the first M mount camera ever to feature a 1:1 viewfinder. As a result, shooting with both eyes open is now possible. Also, when bundled with a 50mm lens, the frame lines will show a bigger area in the viewfinder.
The Bessa R3M is a very popular camera for the traditionalist. The camera has built in metering but other than the small battery used to operate this meter the camera is totally mechanical. There is no aperture priority like its R3A cousing; instead a simple to use + /- metering system is visible through the viewfinder. The lack of battery dependence is a very attractive attribute. If the battery fails for whatever reason you can still continue to shoot.
This camera is fitted with the VM bayonet mount so will take lenses from Leica M, Zeiss ZM and of course Voigtlander's own VM range. L39mm screw mount lenses can also be used with the body with the help of a M bayonet adpater ring, also made by Voigtlander.
The viewfinder has frame lines for 40/50/75/90mm. Wider lenses such as 35mm, 28mm, 25mm, 21mm, 15mm and 12mm can also be used with the aid of hotshoe viewfinders for composition.
